10 Facts about Ireland.
Fact 1 - The longest place name in Ireland is Muckanaghederdauhaulia (23 letters), in County Galway, and meaning ''piggery between two brines''.
Fact 2 - U2 and The Cranberries are from Ireland. Ireland is known for having good musicians.
Fact 3 - Many Irish family name start with ''Mac'' or ''O' ''. Which means respectively ''son of ... '' and ''grandson of...''.
Fact 4 - Bram Stoker was working as a civil servant in Dublin when he wrote “Dracula” in 1897.
Fact 5 - John Tyndall was the first scientist to explain correctly why the sky is blue. He is Irish.
Fact 6 - The Vikings founded Dublin in 988.
Fact 7 - Ireland's Oldest pub is Sean's Bar in Athlone. It was founded 900 years ago.
Fact 8 - It's estimated that over 80 million people of Irish descent live outside Ireland. This is 17 times more than the population of Replubic of Ireland.
